Voice of Carmel 2026 – Annual Solo Singing Competition

The Carmel-Ex Students Association organized the ‘Voice of Carmel’ annual solo singing competition on 14th February 2026, at 12:30 pm in the Carmel College Auditorium. The event was generously sponsored by Rotary Club of Margao Midtown. The competition was open to all students of Carmel College. Participants performed in English, Hindi, and Konkani categories.

The program began with a prayer by Dr. Rivya Dias (Assistant Professor, Department of Economics). Thereafter, Ms. Louise Ann Sequeira (Associate Professor, Department of Political Science) introduced the judges. The competition was judged by Mr. Omar De Loiola Pereira, Mr. Dykvan Fernandes and Ms. Cialini Fernandes, esteemed professionals with years of experience and deep passion for music. The participants delighted the audience with their melodious singing. This was followed by a mesmerizing musical performance by Mr. Omar De Loiola Pereira. Thereafter the results were declared. In the English category, the winners were Ms. Valensia Chakraborty (first place), Ms. Jane D’souza (second place), Ms. Jesiya Fernandes (third place); in the Hindi category, the winners were Ms. Sohni Mahatme (first place), Ms. Bhumika Jain (second place) and Ms. Priyanka Arya (third place); and in the Konkani category, the winners were Ms. Rishona Gomes (first place), Ms. Danielle Sales (second place), and Ms. Shannon Costa (third place). The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Puja Sakhalkar, Vice-President, Carmel-Ex Students Association. The event was hosted by Ms. Michelle Teles (Counsellor, Carmel College). Dr. Aldina Braganza, Officiating Principal, Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women and Rtn. Dr. Maria Joao Wiseman Pinto, Rotary Club of Margao Midtown presided over the function.
