The Goa Arts and Literature Festival is a 2-day annual event held in Jan-Feb at ICG, Dona
Paula. Organized by the Goa Writers group it brings together the finest minds in the country
under one roof. Curating parallel sessions in 3 halls throughout the day, the festival offers a
glimpse of various formats of presentation. Students try to process the information and
discover their literary leanings in a public space outside the classroom.
Outcomes of the Activity
Students got a chance to listen to writers talking about their latest work. They were inspired
by them, interacted with them, and understood a little of what it means to be a writer. The
sessions set their minds thinking and some of them asked questions. They took a look at the
various books that were on display. The experience encouraged them to write session reports,
conduct themselves with poise in public, and compare GALF with other literary festivals they
have attended. Writing prompts kept them focussed on the festival. During the trip they
learned how to get along with others.
