The Department of Psychology, Carmel College of Arts, Science & Commerce for Women, Nuvem, organized a guest lecture titled “From Classroom to Career: Insights from Psychology Alumni” on 31st January 2026. The session was conducted offline at UGCR 09 as part of a lecture series aimed at bridging academic learning with real-world career experiences.

The resource person for the session was Ms. Rachel Vaz, a Psychologist and Life Skills Trainer associated with Accession Consulting and Health Tech and an Aerial Yoga Instructor. Ms. Vaz shared her academic journey in psychology, highlighting the learning experiences, challenges, and turning points that shaped her professional growth. She also elaborated on her professional journey, explaining how her interests evolved over time and how she explored different roles before finding a career path that aligned with her skills, values, and personal well-being.

During the lecture, Ms. Vaz emphasized the importance of identifying and building a relevant skill set alongside academic qualifications. She encouraged students to reflect on their strengths, interests, and competencies, and to view employability as a combination of knowledge, skills, attitude, and adaptability. She reassured students that it is perfectly acceptable to explore different career options and make changes along the way, until they discover a career path that brings them peace, satisfaction, and happiness.
