Classroom to Career: Ms. Aastha Modak

As part of the ongoing Classroom to Career lecture series, the Department of Psychology organized a guest lecture for TYBA students, featuring its alumna Ms. Aastha Modak (Carmel College, Department of Psychology, 2024), who is currently pursuing an MA in Criminology with a specialization in Forensic Psychology at the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar. The lecture was designed to bridge the gap between classroom-based theoretical learning and real-world academic and professional career pathways by providing students with first-hand exposure to postgraduate education and emerging opportunities in the fields of criminology and forensic psychology.

During the session, Ms. Modak shared her academic journey in detail, offering valuable insights into her transition from undergraduate studies in psychology to a specialized postgraduate programme. She explained the eligibility criteria, entrance examination pattern, application procedures, and interview process required for admission to NFSU, thereby demystifying the selection process for aspiring students. She further elaborated on the academic rigor of the programme, discussing the curriculum structure, interdisciplinary approach, research exposure, and practical training components, including hands-on learning, field exposure, and skill-based training opportunities available at the university. Ms. Modak also spoke about the campus environment, faculty support, and institutional resources, highlighting how these aspects contribute to professional growth and competence in forensic and criminological practice.
