 Objectives of the Activity:

  1. To apply REBT concepts to case studies and practical counselling scenarios.
  2. To assess core attitudes and select appropriate REBT intervention techniques in simulated clinical contexts.

Activity Overview:

The students of the Post-Graduate Department of Psychology, Carmel College of Arts, Science, and Commerce for Women, Nuvem, Goa, participated in a Two-Day Offline Training Programme on “REBT: Effective Counselling in Clinical Practice”, organised by the Counselling Cell of Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, Goa on 27th and 28th January 2026.

The resource person for the programme was Ms. Swati Khanolkar, Associate Fellow and Supervisor at the Albert Ellis Institute, New York, Director of In Vivo Mumbai Centre for REBT, and Co-founder of In Vivo–Centre for SST. Her sessions were insightful, engaging, and enriched with practical examples from clinical practice, which greatly enhanced the learning experience of the participants.

The participating students actively engaged in discussions, reflections, and experiential exercises throughout the programme. The training helped strengthen their conceptual clarity, critical thinking skills, and practical understanding of REBT as an evidence-based therapeutic approach. Overall, the programme proved to be academically enriching and professionally valuable for the students of the Department of Psychology, Carmel College, Goa.

Outcomes of the Activity:

  1. Students successfully applied REBT principles while working on case discussions and practical demonstrations.
  2. Students critically evaluated counselling approaches and justified the use of REBT techniques for specific cases.
