Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women, Nuvem, marked a significant step toward promoting innovation and self-employment with the inauguration of the Entrepreneurship and Start-up Development Cell (ESDC) and the Students Entrepreneurship Club on 6th February 2026 in the college auditorium. Dr. Manjunath Nayak has been appointed as the Convenor of the Cell, while the student club will be led by President Ms. Sameeya Memon, Vice President Ms. Roshni Sharma, and Treasurer Ms. Pritika Dwivedi.

The programme began with a prayer by Dr. Celia Braganza, followed by a welcome address from Principal Dr. Aldina Braganza, who emphasized the growing importance of entrepreneurship in today’s competitive world and encouraged students to explore start-up opportunities. A traditional lamp-lighting ceremony was held, and the club logo and ESDC brochure were officially released.

Dr. Manjunath Nayak addressed the gathering on the insights gained from the Faculty Mentor Development Programme held at Ahmedabad. He highlighted the scope of the Mukyamantri Swayam Rojgar Yojana and explained how the ESDC, with support from Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) Goa and DHE Goa, would mentor students in idea development, prototyping, and start-up creation. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Celia Braganza and a group photograph.
