 Objectives of the Activity:

  1. To create awareness about responsible internet usage and digital well-being among high school students.
  2. To help students understand the causes and consequences of excessive internet use.
  3. To encourage the adoption of healthy and balanced digital habits.

Activity Overview:

The Postgraduate Department of Psychology organized a community outreach initiative in the form of a digital wellness session titled “Use the Internet, Don’t Let It Use You” for the students of Our Lady of Piety High School, Collem, Goa, on 30th January 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The program was attended by 114 high school students and was conducted by three postgraduate students under the guidance of a faculty member.

The session was designed to be both informative and engaging. It began with a skit that creatively presented information on internet usage, its psychological impact, and common patterns of excessive screen use among adolescents. This was followed by a brief presentation focusing on the causes of excessive internet use and practical tips to reduce screen time. The interactive approach encouraged student participation and meaningful discussion.

Feedback from the students was positive, with many describing the session as informative, interactive, and insightful. Several students shared that it helped them reflect on their own internet usage and understand the importance of maintaining healthy digital habits.

 Outcomes of the Activity:

  1. Students gained awareness about healthy and responsible internet usage.
  2. Participants reported increased insight into their own digital habits.
  3. The interactive nature of the session enhanced student engagement and understanding.
