Objectives of the Activity:

Activity Overview:

The Postgraduate Department of Psychology conducted a community engagement initiative through a short film screening on alcohol addiction on 25th January 2026. The short film, titled-Aiz Mhazo Birthday, was entirely conceptualized, scripted, and produced by four postgraduate students of the department, reflecting their academic understanding and creative engagement with substance-related issues.

The screening was held at St. Joseph Chapel, Davorlim, Goa, and was attended by sixteen youth from the local community. The short film portrayed the psychological, emotional, and social consequences of alcohol addiction in a realistic and relatable manner. Following the screening, the students conducted a brief activity-based demonstration to highlight how alcohol addiction can negatively impact personal life, relationships, and overall well-being. The program was highly engaging, and the participants responded positively, expressing appreciation for the short film and the interactive nature of the session.

 Outcomes of the Activity:

  1. Improved understanding of the harmful effects of alcohol addiction on mental health and daily functioning
  2. Increased awareness of early warning signs and risk factors related to alcohol use
  3. Better knowledge of practical strategies to resist peer pressure and avoid substance use
