The Carmel-Ex Students Association, P.T.A., and Students’ Council of Carmel College of Arts, Science, and Commerce for Women, Nuvem-Goa, hosted a vibrant family get-together, “Carmel Nite 2025,” on Tuesday, 9th December 2025, at the basketball court of Carmel College from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The event, attended by around 250 people, aimed to reconnect alumni with their roots, foster engagement with the institution, and provide a platform for networking, reminiscing, and fundraising.
The evening began with a prayer by Ms. Michelle Teles, college counsellor, follow
ed by a hymn performed by Ms. Teles, Ms. Daneca da Cruz, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, and Dr. Brian Mendonca, Assistant Professor, Department of English, expressing gratitude for the blessings received by Carmel College.
Dr. Aldina Braganza, Officiating Principal, welcomed the gathering, emphasizing that such events strengthen the bond between alumni, students, staff, and their families. The lighting of the lamp was performed by Dr. Braganza, Prof. Dr. Sr. Doris D’Souza A.C. (Educational Institute Consultant and Quality Control Expert), Ms. Nazrana Banu Shaikh (President, Carmel Ex-Students Association), Sr. Maria Zita A.C. (Management Representative), and Dr. Aida Dourado (Ex-Students’ Representative and IQAC Member). The event was officially declared open by Prof. Dr. Sr. Doris D’Souza A.C.
During the evening, distinguished alumnae Ms. Flory Gracias, entrepreneur, and Ms. Maria Delphine Alvares, teacher, were felicitated for their leadership, generous contributions, and ongoing support to their alma mater.
Students presented a musical play directed by Mr. Vishwapratap Pawar, Assistant Professor, Department of Konkani, depicting the life of Venerable Mother Mary Veronica of the Passion, Foundress of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation. The evening also featured live music by Thousand Shades, led by ex-student and male vocalist Mr. Ezekiel Gomes, and an energetic dance session by Encore Dance Academy, directed by alumna Cecille Rodrigues, who was felicitated for her contributions to the college. The program included a lively flash mob by students, spot prizes, delicious food and drinks, and fun games creating a memorable atmosphere for all.
The event was compered by Ms. Sonia Gomes, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, and Ms. Roxana Singh, Associate Professor, Department of English, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience for attendees.
Carmel Nite 2025 was a heartwarming celebration of community, bringing alumni back to their alma mater and strengthening bonds among students, staff, and families.
