Activity Overview

The Post graduate Department of Psychology began the Career Compass Series with a pre-placement talk from Teach For India to introduce the final year undergraduate and postgraduate students of psychology to the organization’s mission, work culture, and fellowship opportunities. The session was held on campus at the Nirmalini AC Block in PG CR 2.

The Facilitator Ms. Mrigya Mishra, Recruitment Manager of the project, began by sharing the vision, scope and impact of the Teach For India Fellowship, a two-year full-time program where young graduates and professionals are placed in under-resourced schools to teach children and create systemic change.

Students were given insights into the selection process, which involves multiple rounds of applications, problem-solving assessments, and interviews. The representatives emphasized that the fellowship is not only a teaching role but also a leadership development journey that equips fellows with skills such as communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and social impact leadership.

The interactive session concluded with a lively Q&A segment, where students sought clarifications about work-life balance, stipend details, career progression, and the challenges faced in the fellowship. Overall, the pre-placement talk was informative and inspiring, leaving students with a deeper understanding of Teach For India’s mission and the opportunities available through the fellowship program.
