The Department of Economics hosted EcoWiz 2025, an inter-higher secondary quiz on the theme “Know Your Economics”, on 10th September 2025, with eight higher secondary schools participating. The event began with a preliminary crossword round, from which five teams advanced to the finals, followed by the inaugural ceremony. The principal lauded the organizing team and highlighted the importance of such events in fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and healthy academic competition.
The quiz, conducted by Mr. Tilroy Fernandes, former Principal of Cuncolim United Higher Secondary School, featured seven competitive rounds. After a closely contested finale, Samiya Beig and Dhruva Nechkankar of St. Andrew’s HSS, Vasco, emerged as winners, while Daan Darshan Naik and Mohammed Rashid Shaikh of Ramacrisna Madeva HSS, Margao, were runners-up. Winners received trophies and certificates.
The event was generously sponsored by Gesto Culinary Academy, whose support contributed significantly to its success. EcoWiz 2025 received wide appreciation from both faculty and students, and stood out as a memorable academic endeavour that combined learning, competition, and camaraderie.
