Activity Overview
A group of Post Graduate Food Technology (PGFT) students attended the FoSTaC Food Safety Supervisor for Advanced (Catering) certification program on 21 August 2025, and the Advanced (Manufacturing) certification program on 22 August 2025 at VM Salgaoncar Institute of International Hospitality Education (VMSIIHE) from 9.15 to 5.15 pm. Conducted by D&D Strategic Consulting in collaboration with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The training opportunity was mediated via the Training, Internship, and Placement (TIP) Cell of the College, and a concession was offered to the students of Carmel College. The program’s primary goal was to provide candidates with the necessary knowledge and skills to act as certified Food Safety Supervisors in the food catering and manufacturing industry.
The training program provided essential insights into the legal and operational requirements for ensuring food safety. The program highlighted that every Food Business Operator (FBO) is required to have a trained and certified Food Safety Supervisor on their premises. This certification is crucial for ensuring adherence to food safety standards and regulations, directly impacting public health and consumer trust. The program successfully bridged the gap between the students’ academic knowledge and the industry’s real-world demands, equipping them to contribute to the food industry by upholding high standards of safety and quality.
