Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women, Nuvem, organised an Open Mic celebrating the Independence Day of India, on 12th August 2025. The event was jointly hosted by the Departments of English, Konkani, and Hindi. The event took place in the college auditorium at 10:30 a.m and drew an audience of 90 attendees.
A total of 18 attendees performed. The participants included students from both, the under graduate and higher secondary sections, teaching and non-teaching staff who presented a variety of performances, including poetry, speeches, short stories, stand up comedies and passionate monologues, all centred on the theme of freedom.
The programme was anchored by Ms. Ann Fernandes and Ms. Sohni Mahatme. The event was coordinated by Assistant Professor Ashwini Kumar from the Department of English. Dr. Glenis Mendonca, Head, Department of English delivered the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to all participants, especially the students from the higher secondary. The open mic concluded on a joyful note with a group photograph, capturing the enthusiasm and camaraderie of the day.
