Organized by the Departments of Psychology and Economics, Carmel College in association with Rotary Club of Margao Midtown
In a meaningful gesture aligning with the Jubilee Year 2025 theme, the Departments of Psychology and Economics of Carmel College in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Margao Midtown, hosted Vanmahotsav 2025–Planting Hope for a Greener Tomorrow, on 9th July, 2025. The initiative brought together students, faculty, and support staff in a symbolic and practical commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
Held as part of the Jubilee Year’s theme, “Pilgrims of Hope,” the tree of hope plantation drive aimed to inspire regeneration, gratitude, and responsibility.
The event commenced with a solemn prayer by Dr. Rivya Dias, followed by an environmental pledge led by Dr. Anna Rovina Fernandes, reinforcing the collective responsibility to protect and preserve the environment. The tree saplings were planted in the college campus and a few were also distributed to students, faculty and a local community member who had joined in for the program. Sr. Saviola Maria blessed the gathering and actively participated in the plantation drive. The program was compered by Ms. Sibyl Fernandes, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Michelle Fernandes.
The Rotary Club of Margao Midtown contributed generously by donating fruit-bearing saplings including those of mango, coconut, arecanut, cashew, chickoo and lemon. Vanmahotsav 2025 was a hands-on educational experience that brought environmental awareness to life. More importantly, it left behind a living legacy – a ‘Tree of Hope’ that will grow for years to come, symbolizing regeneration and the enduring spirit of the Jubilee.
This initiative reflects our collective identity as pilgrims of hope, committed to nurturing life, honoring the earth, and planting seeds for a greener tomorrow.
