Activity Overview
Carmel College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Nuvem – Goa, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with V. M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education (VMSIIHE) on 12 August 2025 in the College Auditorium. Dr Maria Cordeiro, Faculty of Postgraduate Department of Food Technology (PGFT), played a crucial role in the success of this collaboration. The audience included students and faculty of the PGFT, along with students and faculty of other science departments of the Undergraduate section.
The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is to establish a collaborative framework between VMSHIIE and Carmel College on various educational and research projects, sharing resources, and enhancing academic and research programs for the progress of the institute, students and teachers as per the terms and conditions outlined in the memorandum of understanding.
Dr Maria Cordeiro coordinated the MoU signing event on 12 August 2025, which occurred between 1 pm to 1.30 pm. The program began with a welcome address by Dr Cordeiro and a prayer by Ms Inoshka Mendes. Dr Cordeiro explained to the audience the importance of signing the MoU, especially to faculty and students of the PGFT. Dr Aldina Braganza e Gomes, Officiating Principal of Carmel College and Prof. Irfan Mirza, Principal of VMSIIHE, addressed the audience to emphasise the significance of the MoU. Prof. Mirza mentioned that the EXCAPO 2.0 was the reason to propose the signing of the MoU so that technological aspects could be provided by the PGFT.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Sr. Doris D’Souza A.C., Education Expert of the Carmel Congregation, Mr. Donald Rodrigues (Administrator of VMSIIHE), Ms. Martha Rebello (Compliance Officer of VMSIIHE), along with Dr. Semele Sardesai and Ms Alyce Rodrigue (Faculty members of VMSIIHE). Through this MoU, a cooperation could be established between the two Institutes, which would be beneficial for both. The event was conducted with other faculties and students to create awareness of the MoU and its significance.
