Activity Overview
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), in collaboration with the PG Department of Food Technology (PGFT), conducted a seminar combined with a Q&A session for the Non-Teaching staff of Carmel College, Nuvem-Goa, on 11 August 2025. The activity was conducted to disseminate information to address common misconceptions about food and nutrition by providing science-based clarifications. Dr Maria Cordeiro, IQAC member and faculty of the PGFT, coordinated the event along with the PG Health & Wellness Club. The one-hour session commenced at 2 pm in the College Auditorium. Dr Cordeiro welcomed the gathering, and Ms Inoshka Mendes led the group in prayer. Dr Aldina Braganza e Gomes, Officiating Principal of Carmel College, informed the participants of the reason for conducting this session. Dr Cordeiro introduced the event ‘Nutri-Goals’ to the audience and mentioned the significance of the session for the non-teaching staff.
Dr. Aduja Naik, faculty of the PGFT, was the Resource Person for the session. Dr Naik had an interactive session, wherein the students and the non-teaching staff asked their questions at the end of her talk. Through this activity, common misconceptions about food and nutrition were justified with scientific clarifications. The non-teaching staff, along with the members of the Health & Wellness Club (M.Sc. I Students), relayed many myths or habitual practices which were clarified by the speaker. The session was followed by a vote of thanks given by Dr Cordeiro. Dr Cordeiro was able to convey that the faculty of the department is well-versed with knowledge related to science of food and nutrition. The non-teaching staff were very happy to interact with the faculty of the PGFT and requested more sessions for them.
