The Department of Commerce organised an insightful and inspiring session on Experiential Sharing- Choice of Career Path and Entrepreneurial Journey on 24th July 2025 in the College Auditorium from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. A total of 128 students from different streams of Arts, Science and Commerce attended the session.
The objective of the session was to enable students to learn from real-life experiences, challenges, and lessons, thereby broadening their understanding of practical business and career development. The resource person for the session was Mr. Kunal D’Costa, the managing Partner at Ascend Financial and Insurance Solutions. Mr. D’Costa brought with him a wealth of experience, having transitioned from a successful career in Public Relations at Publicis Media to becoming an entrepreneur and finfluencer. He currently leads the Investments vertical at Ascend, providing strategic financial planning services to diverse clients.
The session began with a prayer service, followed by a warm and informative introduction of the guest speaker. As a heartfelt gesture of appreciation, a potted plant was presented to Mr. D’Costa by Ms. Prozel Dias from SYBCOM, symbolizing growth, gratitude and respect.
The session with Mr. Kunal D’Costa was an engaging and thought-provoking experience that offered students a rare glimpse into the real-life journey of a multifaceted professional. From his early success as the Voice of Goa 2014 and his vibrant career in music performance and composition, to his transition into Public Relations at Publicis Media, and eventually his role as an entrepreneur and finfluencer at Ascend Financial and Insurance Solutions, Mr. D’Costa shared personal stories of opportunity, burnout, reinvention and resilience. His insights on financial planning, time management, work-life balance, and upskilling resonated deeply with the students. Emphasising the importance of staying consistent, networking effectively, and responding not reacting to life’s challenges, he left the audience inspired and motivated to carve their own unique paths. His candid, humorous and heartfelt storytelling, combined with an interactive Q&A session, made the session both enriching and memorable. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Ms. Sanchi Naik from SYBCOM.
