Department of Zoology of Carmel College for Women, Nuvem celebrated Van Mahotsav on July 24th 2025 in collaboration with Wildlife and Ecotourism division of South Goa’s Goa State Forest Department. The dignitaries for the function were Mr. Rajesh V. Naik (Range Forest officer, Marine Range South Goa) accompanied by Ms. Sakshi S. Naik (Round forester), Mr. Krupaksh Fatto (Forest guard), Mr. Dadapir Mulla (Rescuer), Mr. Zefrino Carvalho (Rescuer), Mr. Aslam Mansouri (Rescuer), Mr. Omkar Kunkalkar (Rescuer) and Mr. Paresh naik (Rescuer).
The program began with a prayer by Ms. Karen Braganza, Assistant Professor of Zoology. Mr. Rajesh V. Naik spoke about the importance of plants and their role in environment, specifically in soil formation and conservation. Dr. Aldina Braganza, Principal addressed the gathering. Professor Dr Manoj Borkar, HOD of Department of Zoology concluded the program by thanking the guests and emphasizing on the importance of the occasion. The dignitaries were felicitated by the college. The program was followed by a tree plantation drive on the college campus by planting tree to support campus biodiversity. The program concluded with a distribution of fruiting and flowering plants to the staff, students and local stakeholders.
