The Department of Economics conducted a Research Discussion Forum titled Eco Buzz on 19th July 2025, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am, in classroom UGCR 2. The theme of the forum was “Goa’s Economic Future: Navigating Contemporary Issues and Concerns.” The session aimed to provide a platform for academic engagement and discussion on the evolving economic landscape of Goa, highlighting both opportunities and challenges. This forum also aimed to enable final year students of Economics to identify research problems for their project paper.
A total of 22 students and 5 faculty members participated in the session. The discussion focused on key areas such as tourism sustainability, employment generation, infrastructural development, and environmental concerns affecting Goa’s economy.
The forum encouraged exchange of ideas among the participants. The faculty guided the students on the need to develop critical insights on economic issues. They were encouraged to inculcate the reading habit. Two students from the department, Ms. Sweety Singh and Ms. Alice Dsouza were applauded for their victory at ‘Anwesha 2.0’ a quiz competition on ‘Official Statistics’ organised by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India on 18th July 2025.
