A field study trip was organized to a local florist shop at SGPDA Market, Madgaon for students of S.Y.B.Sc. Botany Minor VET on 27th March 2025 as part of the curriculum of BOT 221-Techniques in Floral Arrangement. Ms. Pratiksha Dabolkar, faculty of the department of Botany accompanied the students.

The students interacted with Mr. Anil Kumar a local florist working at Salva Faridab in the SGPDA market who is into this business for over a decade. They offer a wide range of floral arrangements, from classic bouquets to modern and contemporary designs. They also provide customized arrangements for special occasions, such as weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries. In addition to procuring flowers from outside the state, they take pride in sourcing flowers and materials from local suppliers whenever possible and incorporating seasonal flowers and foliage into their arrangements. Despite the challenges of competition from online retailers and managing seasonal fluctuations, he advised students to start a career in floristry and gain as much experience as possible, stay up-to-date with industry trends, and never stop learning.

Overall, the field study trip was a valuable experience for the 16 students of S.Y.B.Sc.
