The workshop aimed to provide an experiential learning opportunity to students guiding them through the art and science of floral arrangements, with a focus on fresh flowers, design principles and creating visually appealing displays allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting while fostering creativity.

The first day of the workshop started with an introductory session led by expert florist Mr. Roque Noronha, proprietor of Liz Forest Florist and Nursery, Margao. He discussed the importance of floral arrangements, highlighting their aesthetic and cultural value. He also covered the process of handling fresh flowers, the commercial aspects, pricing, challenges related to damaged flowers and efficient use of all plant materials and containers. He then introduced students to various floral arrangement styles such as handheld bouquet, circular arrangement, boat-shaped hanger, boat-shaped table arrangement, triangular design, crescent-shaped arrangement and techniques for wiring flowers and foliage.

On the second day, students participated in a hands-on session where they learned to create various floral arrangement styles, including two styles of floral crosses, bridal bouquet, two styles of wreaths, table runner, headbands, corsage, boutonniere and crown. Mr. Roque Noronha provided individual guidance during the hands-on session, ensuring that students applied the concepts learned on the first day while creating their arrangements.

By the end of the workshop, students were able to: 1. Demonstrate proficiency in basic flower arrangement techniques. 2. Acquire hands-on experience in selecting and arranging fresh flowers, ensuring that they can create aesthetically pleasing designs.

The students expressed satisfaction highlighting the hands-on learning experience and the opportunity to apply their creativity while working with fresh flowers. The skills gained during the workshop not only supported their academic growth but also deepened their appreciation for both the aesthetic and practical uses of fresh flowers.
