The Department of Commerce in association with the Regional Employment Exchange, Panaji organized a career awareness session on the 1st of April 2022 at 11.30 am. The talk was held in UGCR 8. The topic of the session was Dealing with Interview Anxiety, Rejection and Waitlist.
The speaker for the session was Dr. Charlane Pereira e Rebello a counsellor from Phoenix Counselling Centre, Chinchinim. Dr. Charlane has been a faculty and alumnus of the college and has been offering counselling and aptitude testing for students.
In the session on Interview anxiety, Dr. Charlane explained the signs and symptoms of anxiety, its manifestation in candidates when appearing for an interview. She also explained the methods of dealing with anxiety while preparing and appearing for an interview. Dr. Charlane administered a short test to students to test their anxiety levels. Dr. Charlane also discussed the issue of job rejections and being waitlisted for the job. She also stated that applying for multiple jobs at the same time would increase the chances of getting a job.
The session was an informative one and the students were made aware of the techniques of handling anxiety. At the end of the session students were asked to provide their feedback through the Google Form circulated by the Department of Commerce.
