The YWCA Health Cell organized it’s monthly activity at Carmel College on 1st Dec 2016 to celebrate World AIDS Day.
The event began with a street play enacted by the students about the misconceptions of HIV infections. The play was performed by 8 students who then gave a positive message about living with HIV.
This was followed by a video presentation by Dr. Vandana Pathankar on HIV. Dr. Vandana is the Chief medical officer in charge of the district FIART Centre in Margao. The educational video focused on HIV virus and methods of spread. Following the video, Dr.Vandana spoke on the voluntary testing and counseling Centre and services available at the district hospital.
This session was followed by two street performances by the students. The first was in the waiting area of Hospicio hospital and the second was at the KTC Bus stand. Both performances were well received with good response by the public.
