Dr. Aldina Gomes was honoured with the Orchid Award for Women Achievers in Goa at the hands of Mr. K. Dawarakanath Row; Chairman, Goa Public Service Commission at a glittering function hosted by the Orchid Group of Companies in association with the Rotary Club of Panaji and Waman Hari Pethe Jewellers. Mr. Francis D’souza, Dy Chief Minister of Goa, was Chief Guest for the evening held at the Taleigao Community Hall, Panaji on Saturday, 29th November 2014. The award was conferred in recognition of Dr. Gomes’ work in the field of education. In her acceptance speech, Dr. Aldina spoke about her passion for working with the youth, specially in the areas of coping skills and emotional health. Dr Aldina Gomes is Associate professor and Head of the Department of Psychology, Carmel College for Women, Nuvem. With postgraduate and doctoral degrees from Bombay University, she has done her professional training in counseling from Westminister Pastoral Foundation, London and from the HIVOS Institute Amsterdam.
