“God’s love supersedes all religions and it is the core of all religions.” – Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi, The Religion of God, with this in mind Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women, organised an inter-religious meet on the 17th September, 2016, in the college auditorium, with the theme, “Let’s Build Together a Human Family”. The program was conducted by Rev. Dr. Fr. Lyndon Rodrigues, SFX, the moderator for theology students, from the Pilar Theological College, Pilar, Goa along with the Theology students.
The programme commenced with a video on religious harmony followed by lightning of the lamp by students and resource persons of different faiths. The program consisted readings from the Bhagavad Gita, Quran and the Bible. Each reading from the Holy Scriptures was followed by a dialogue from eminent individuals. The resource persons Mr. Ramesh Veluskar, Mr. Ariaf Shaikh, and Rev. Dr. Fr. Lyndon Rodrigues spoke on the essence of the three religions and how the core values of each religion can be fruitfully applied in our day to day lives.
The Theology students also put up a skit and a mime cum puppet show to highlight the theme. The programme was interspersed with videos and songs.
On this occasion, a poster competition on ‘Saint Teresa of Calcutta’ was also organised for the students. The prizes were distributed at the end of the program. The first prize was bagged by Ms. Waverly Dias from FYB.Com, second prize by Ms. Ojvi Coutinho from TY.BA and the third prize was shared by Ms. Tania Costa form FYB.SC and Ms. Efornie Fernandes from TYBA.
The programme was attended by staff and students of Carmel Higher Secondary and Carmel College.
