A 4 hour Haibun workshop, organized by the Department of English of Carmel College, Nuvem was conducted by Indian fiction writer and poet Rochelle Potkar at Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women, Nuvem, Goa in the college auditorium on Saturday 12th August 2017. The workshop which was open to all was well-attended by several school children in the vicinity, poets, academicians, staff and college students.

Roxana Singh, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English welcomed the gathering. Principal, Dr. Sr. Aradhana A.C. observed that Carmel College has widened its mandate as a learning centre to a cultural hub. Workshop Coordinator, Dr. Brian Mendonca introduced Rochelle Potkar and her work. Glenis Mendonca, Assistant Professor, proposed the vote of thanks. Rochelle Potkar introduced the participants to the Japanese form of haiku, and helped them blend prose with poetry in haibun. She also gave tips on how to critique one’s work. She discussed the haibun samples of many participants. Certificates were given to all participants.The workshop was an enriching learning experience for all.
