Prof S P Kamat (retd), Goa University was invited to give lectures to the F.Y B.Sc. & T.Y.B.Sc students on the topic ‘Stereochemistry of Organic Compounds’ on Aug 16, 17 & 22, 2017.  Stereoisomerism of organic compounds is included as a part of Semester I FYBSc syllabus. The TYBSc students also attended the lectures as it would be beneficial to them during their entrance examination for PG courses in chemistry at the end of this academic year. The students were introduced to the concept of Stereoisomerism and conformational isomerism by using models. Wedge Formula, Newmann, Sawhorse and Fischer representations of Chiral compounds containing 2 chiral carbon atoms and their interconversions were taught
