MARG (Movement for Amity towards Roads in Goa) and the Department of History- Carmel College, jointly took the initiative to launch the Francisco Luis Gomes Civic Club at the college, on 23rd July 2015.
Ms. Leila Ribeiro Head of Department-History, introduced the guests Mr. Gurunath Kelekar and Mr. Prabhakar Timble. Mr Kelekar mentioned the importance of Francisco Luis Gomes a man of high thinking for his times. Mr. Timble the resource person for the day highlighted the fact that the main aim of the club was to empower oneself by sharpening one’s intellect, be assertive and thereby become responsible citizens internally. Only then could one bring a healthy change in society.
35 students volunteered to be members of the club and are committed towards the cause of self- growth, so that in the process they can function as responsible citizens of our country.
On the occasion of the inauguration of the club, MARG presented the club with a photo-frame of Mahatma Gandhi. The club will be conducting ten sessions dealing with the overall growth of the citizen. The Vote of Thanks was presented by Ms. Ojvi of the SYBA.
