Sao João was traditionally celebrated on 24th June 2017, by the department of Konkani , Carmel College , Nuvem for the third consecutive year by organising a Copel making competition with traditional music , food and fruits. There was an overwhelming response with students from Science, Commerce and Arts participating in the event. There were 13 participants who used wild flowers and fruits for making the copels. The department organises the event to commemorate Sao Joao feast as well as to get the students to appreciate the flowers and fruits which we get during the monsoons.
The first three prizes were bagged by Reena Topno [ Semester I of B.A ] , Merlin Pinto [ Semester III of B.A] and Celvia Fernandes, Nefilia D’Mello [ Semester I of B.A ]. The contest was judged by faculty members – Lynette Fortes and Rivya Dias
